I just heard the news a few hours ago about the passing of Randy “Macho Man” Savage. The wrestling world has lost an undeniable legend.  He raised the bar on so many levels, and is revered as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.  He had style, he had charisma, he could entertain and he could perform with the best of them.  What the Macho Man gave to the wrestling business is immeasurable.

In 1985, Randy Savage made his debut in the World Wrestling Federation and was appointed as one of the hottest free agents in the industry.  In less than one year he would become Intercontinental Champion, adding credibility to the title that would be known for enhancing a wrestler to the next level.  He was a 6’2″, 239 pound flashy entertainer from Sarasota, Florida. With his entrance song ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ by Sir Edward Elgar blasting through the arena speakers, Savage entered the ring with colorful and fashionable outfits, sporting many bandanas, cowboy hats, matching sunglasses and was accompanied by The First Lady of Wrestling, Miss Elizabeth (his real wife at the time).  A great stick man, Randy was able to sell you vocally with his promos on the microphone. The man with the signature raspy “Ohhhh Yeaaah!” and “Dig It” catch phrases helped Savage establish himself from the rest.  His famed WrestleMania III bout with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat in 1987, to this day is considered by wrestling purists to be one of the if not greatest matches in history ever.  That particular match featured an estimated 23 two-count pin falls.  The action and drama in that 5-star classic is considered to be a blueprint on how to tell a wrestling story.

Macho Man became a growing household WWF name in the late 1980′s.  He was the #1 man in the company, winning a grueling one night tournament in Atlantic City, New Jersey defeating “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase to become the Undisputed World Champion at WrestleMania IV.  He formed a partnership with Hulk Hogan, famously feuding with him in and outside of the ring.   In the process Savage became a main event player, a go to guy for the company to build another tier 1 level star aside from Hogan.  He accelerated in both good guy (baby face) and in villain (heel) modes.  He brought out the best in the Honky Tonk Man, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Crush and “Diamond” Dallas Page to name a few.  His epic rivalry with The Ultimate Warrior led to his 1991 retirement match at WrestleMania VII, which saw the two titans battle it out with their careers on the line.  The conclusion of the match marked the reunion with Miss Elizabeth and a storybook wedding at SummerSlam ’91.  Whether he was part of the Mega Powers, known as the Macho King, Slim Jim pitchman or just a color commentator, Randy was a vibrant personality and excelled at every position he was assigned to.  With so many timeless matches and memorable moments, Savage was truly in a class of his own.

When his contract with the WWF (now known as WWE) ended in 1994, he continued onto WCW and was a key acquisition for the rival promotion.  He was one of the first well known superstars of Vince McMahon’s company to jump ship.  Some might have thought Savage was past his prime by then and that WWF creative (the writers) had nothing in store for him. But Macho Man proved he was not done yet, winning the WCW World Heavyweight title four times.  As a member of the nWo, he was instrumental in helping WCW win the Monday night TV rating wars against the WWF.  Towards the end of the 1990′s, Savage re-invented himself with a larger physique, new ring attire, slicked hair and was managed by a trio of women (Gorgeous George, Madusa, and Miss Madness).  He always found ways to stay relevant even with father time.  Often described as hot tempered, out of control, insecure, and obsessed, Savage even created a rap album in 2003 titled, Be A Man.   The title track was a diss record targeted at Hulk Hogan, who he had a legitimate beef with outside the business. Macho had blamed the Hulkster for the failure of his marriage to Elizabeth. The Macho Man did make a few appearances with TNA Wrestling in 2004 before quietly leaving for good.

For the past decade, Randy Savage stayed pretty much inactive, he had saved his earnings and was officially retired from professional wrestling.  The Macho Man character did not have a formal send off and was never to be heard again. He literally vanished from the business that made him a star.  In recent years, photos online have showed an elder Macho Man with a full out white beard.  Many fans questioned why he never returned to the WWE as a personality, or take on a backstage role after WCW closed down in 2001.  A war of words between Savage and Vince McMahon’s son-in-law Triple H may have been the reason.  In an early 2000′s interview, Triple H labeled Savage a dinosaur and that did not sit too kindly with Randy.  Was Savage that much of a bitter man?  He  retaliated by threatening to give Stephanie McMahon “a ride around the block”, which probably did not sit too well with either Hunter or Vince.  His public falling out with Hulk Hogan was also documented as well.  Hogan took to his Twitter account today saying he was sorry for the past 10 years and wished that they were able to resolve their problems earlier. Professional and personal jealousy had always followed Randy Savage everywhere he went.  The WWE did reach out to Savage in a few ways.  In 2009, a 3 disc set was produced chronicling his WWE/WCW career.  Two critical factors falling short on this collection of matches was a deserved documentary and actual involvement from Savage, who was not interviewed for the project. By mid-2010, a licensing agreement was in place for his likeliness and image to be re-created in action figurines and video games.  This should have been the start of mending the fence and potentially getting the Macho Man his rightful place into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Next year WrestleMania 28 will take place in Miami, Florida.  Who knows if the WWE were in the works to have Savage inducted, since the event would have been held in his home state. It’s not confirmed whether the WWE refused him entry or Savage declined the invite year after year.  The Macho Man truly deserves to be a member of this fraternity based on his accolades inside the ring as opposed to the differences that took place outside the ring.  Many credit Randy Savage as one of the greatest minds of the wrestling business.  He was well known to creatively plan out his matches, from start to finish he was very detail oriented.  Ask Rick Steamboat.  Ask DDP. Ask Jim Hellwig. He was respected by the locker room for what he brought to the performance aspect.  Some will argue that Savage vs. Steamboat (WM III) may have been eclipsed by Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker I from WrestleMania 25 in 2009.  Nonetheless, Savage always went out every night to have the best match on the card, even if he wasn’t main eventing…something HBK was known for in the second phase of his career and may have inherited that ideology from Savage’s early beginnings.

The intensity he brought to his character, his talents and body of work will never be forgotten.  His influence among the current generation of wrestlers is still relevant.  Many wrestlers took to their Twitter account stunned of his passing, but also thanked and praised the Macho Man for all of his accomplishments. He was instrumental in influencing many wrestlers in more ways than one.  The Macho Man is one of the primary reasons I became a life long wrestling fan and I will now use the “flying elbow” whenever I get the chance to.  On Friday, May 20th, 2011, we lost a legend in his own right. Randall Mario Poffo aka Randy “Macho Man” Savage will be greatly missed and he will forever be remembered as a true icon of the squared circle.

Today is a sad day in the music world. One of the great icons, entertainers and music artists of all time has passed. Michael Jackson meant so much to so many people, and everybody has a story they can relate to about the music he created.

Before I ever listened to rap, hip-hop, r&b, I grew up on the radio. I listened to Top 40 and in the 80′s one man ruled the airwaves: Michael Jackson. What he has done for my generation and so many music fans across the world will never go unnoticed. He’s broken and set many Billboard records. He’s sold out thousands of arenas. He’s left us with a lifetime of memories. The voice, the style, the dance moves and imagery all define what Michael Jackson did for popular culture.

As I write this and listen to a catalog of MJ’s many dozen hit songs, I’m reminded of a time period when I was younger and grew up listening to one of my favorite artists of all time. I can safely say, Michael was my favorite singer in my childhood. Years later, his music continues to inspire others and people still talk about the man despite him not being as dominant as he once was. For today’s kids who have no clue who he was, ask your older siblings or your parents or a teacher. They’ll tell you what a legend he was and will forever be.

For all the negative issues he went through in the past 15 years (plastic surgery woes, extortion, child molestation accusations, failed comebacks), Michael Jackson’s legacy will never die. It will continue for generations and generations after. He was a trailblazer, a trend setter, a risk taker, an innovator and a consummate performer. I’ll miss you Michael Jackson. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the soundtrack to different eras of my livelihood.

Just wanted to blog from the site blogger’s perspective….Yes today is a milestone, this website celebrates its third year of existence on the web.  Congrats and thanks to everyone who takes time out of their useless lives and peeps the posts that I post on thissssss lol.

I must say I like this blog layout, compared to a year ago I kind of was losing steam and interest in my own site.  It was the format that made me less and less interested in updating content on this site…Content is what drives people to return to a site, as information is key.  So 3 years ago, still new to the world wide web, I paid $1500 for a production center to officially launch my website.  Not knowing what I know now, I decided to let someone else put the site together. Damn looking back, what a waste of money it was!  I could have used that money to buy some clothes or food!  I could have went on a trip or something, I could go on and on with what I could have done with that type of moolah….Anyways long story short when I relaunched v2.0 of this site on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, I am proud to say that I didn’t drop a dime on it.  And I think I’ve done a lot more in less than a year with this version that I did in the first 2 years of  The 3XGP.

When I re-started the site a year ago, I envisioned something more than music, I wanted to incorporate stuff that interested me a lot.  So now the site is all about MUSIC-FASHION-SPORTS-GOSSIP – these elements I have a fond interest for.  Where can you find the hottest music, juicy celebrity gossip, UFC/WWE posts and fashion trends all in one site? Honestly I love to update this site whenever I get a chance to.  Everything that you see on the site is a reflection of what I like, what I think is dope like soap on a rope and what’s on the verge of being heavy.  I don’t really know too many of my local bloggers out there who can do it like this - the consistency is not there.  Sure we lead boring yet busy lives but damn, running a site isn’t that much work, all you’re doing is sharing information – whether  it’s a video clip, a commentary, a scanadalous pic or the latest music video that is worthy of mention…

I would like to give a big up to all my peoples who visit on the regular.  Also shout out to the other websites out there doing their thing, great stuff….The thing about websites is that if you see the same post on more than one site – don’t think they are stealing it.  I don’t care who you talk to – nobody has an exclusive.  All it takes is one site and the shit spreads like wildfire on the web.  One site owner might rant on their site that they see other people with their content, but homie that content ain’t even yours.  You is just as unoriginal as the next dude!  The point is that everybody is getting the same information…but what it boils down to is who publishes it first.  But the reality is, we don’t live on Internet.  To have a wicked top site, you’d have to be connected to a PC 24/7 to update constantly…Take a legend like Perez Hilton for instance, I’m not even going to provide a link to his site because 98% of the populace knows his site.  His shit now a days is no different than a 14 year old blogger.  This it not to rain on Perez, he’s a trailblazer and is actually the website model to follow (think $$$), but everyone is trying to do what he does.  But then again…who am I to say what makes a good site?  I continue to learn something new everyday with this web stuff, but as the Internet becomes a provider for the sharing of information or content, all websites including this one in one way or another do follow a pattern of genericism…

Anyways not to get off topic but pretty much you can have 2 types of informative sites, the first being a public site where people come for popular information and then you have the latter – which is more personal and involves narrative writing and picture posts that only your immediate circle would appreciate.  The second site is what you would say is a heaven for stalkers!!! (who knows who’s reading about your life on there) But yeah where does The 3XGP fall into?  The early version from 2005-2007 would be categorized as half informative and half personal.  But I’ve learned to keep the personal stuff on the side, save that junk for Facebook or MySpace!  So I guess my site is strictly infomative on popular culture and what not.  I love that junk – entertainment and all the outside elements (media, press, celebrity, photo, video, gossip) fascinates me…

As I write this and self-reflect in the process, I plan to keep doing the site until I get bored of it….and right now that is no where near.  I am thankful for all the relationships I’ve maintained with the site, whether it be record label reps, DJ’s, and this may sound cliché – but the people themselves!  I love how people visit and never comment on the posts…I’ll be honest, I barely leave comments on other people’s sites either.  If I ever get a shit load of comments on my posts and the first post’s comment will say something like “FIRST”, you gonna get deleted!  So yeah….in conclusion, thanks for tuning in, I dunno when the next State Address is.  The 3XGP is still takin’ over one city at a time - just on a ‘Filipino Time’ schedule lol.

I finally bought a new hoster….

I’ve learned my lesson.

Not to fuck around with shitty hosters…

I’m going to officially be making the move to a new hoster with 0% downtime!!!

Long story short, my database crashed…

My hoster has this one button that could fix it all…

They had the button disabled on my cpanel!

Suuuuucked large….

That’s some tech talk for ya…

It was a nice vacation for me…

I was posting minimum 10x a day for 4 straight months…

That’s 1200 posts if you can do the math…

100,000+ views in less than 4 months.

The day after the highest amount of traffic the site got, shit collapsed…

Hey what up Team-3XGP…

Just wanted to show you some pics from the party I had for The 3XGP last week.  It was a decent turnout for a Monday night, once again I just wanna say thanks to all who made it, that was really dope…

The party was thrown by Kleen Media, and they run the city.  Catch them Mondays at Rockwood, Wednesdays at Lobby, Thursdays at Century Room, Fridays at Ultra Supper Club and Saturdays at This Is London.

I hope you guys dig this web site.  Today is 4 months since the rebirth of the relaunch and the feedback has been real good.  Stick around, there’s more in store ya digggg?  I think in the future I will be doing some more parties later this year with other promoters as well.
