Jersey City, New Jersey rapper Joe Budden steps in for the latest exclusive interview for THE3XGP.COM! Rick From Chicago talked to Joey about his favorite Joe Budden TV, clips, the highly anticipated Padded Room album, Saigon/Ransom beef, the New York Yankees, Slaughterhouse and much more!
RFC : During those quiet days at Def Jam, you kept your name afloat by putting out the Mood Muzik mixtape series. Will there be a Mood Muzik4?
Joe Budden: Yes. I dunno when it’s coming…Don’t try to pigeonhole me but it’s definitely coming!
RFC: Since you started posting video blogs on YouTube, the hip-hop community has seen a humorous extension of your personality besides Joe Budden the rapper. Of all the Joe Budden TV clips you’ve filmed, which one is your favorite?
Joe Budden: Oh man, that’s like the toughest question in the world Rick. I like…the one where I’m going through my girlfriend’s MySpace page, that was a really really good one. What else…Oh yeah the one where I’m in my best friend’s room and I was cracking on his DVD collection is really funny. There’s a bunch of them that are really funny to me so I couldn’t tell you which one if my favorite.
Hood Cribs – Killa BH Edition
RFC: I like the one you did in the bowling alley with your friends, DJ Enuff and Angie Martinez.
Joe Budden: Yeah that one was pretty fun too.
Joe Budden the Bowler…
RFC: Who knew you were a good bowler!
Joe Budden: Nobody knew! See…Joe Budden TV is very insightful.

RFC: In the last month or so, we’ve seen you exchange barbs back and forth with Ransom and then jump right into a feud with Saigon. Do you think beef is a good marketing tool to promote one’s self or it just comes back down to the essence of spirited competition on the mic?.
Joe Budden: For me it’s all about the competition. It’s not really about the marketing aspect. I mean it does help, it definitely does help. But that’s not what I do it for, I do it because it’s in my competitive nature.
Padded Room is in stores Tuesday, February 24, 2009
RFC: What’s your take on the whole auto-tune movement. Did you use it for any of the records on Padded Room?
Joe Budden: No. Unfortunately for the readers out there, there will be no auto-tune on Padded Room. However I’m not opposed to it, I’m not knocking anybody for making music using the way that they make it, but it’s just something I’m not doing at this time.
RFC: Let’s talk about politics for a minute. Barack Obama in the new commander in chief for the United States of America. Do you remember where you were when the new President was sworn in?
Joe Budden: I was home. I was home watching, glued to the TV!
Joe Budden – Touch & Go (2008)
RFC: What’s the last movie you saw and was it any good?
Joe Budden: “Taken” was the last movie I saw and I thought it was a really good. Oddly I didn’t expect much from it but it turned out to be pretty good.
RFC: I’ve heard that baseball is one of your favorite sports. Are you looking forward to checking out a game at the new Yankee stadium?
Joe Budden: Hell Yeah, Hell Yeah. I’m looking forward to every Yankee game! We got such a good team – on paper we got a good team, so I’m anxious to see how it pans out in real life.
RFC: What do you think of the pick ups they had in the off-season?
Joe Budden: Oh my god, they’re amazing, back to my Yankees, they are one of the reasons why I love them. They are so committed to winning and putting out the best product on the field for their fans. Love it.
RFC: Do you follow the UFC? Who’s your favorite fighter?
Joe Budden: I follow the UFC, but I don’t follow them enough to follow their names. I’m a big Vilma fan. I like the regular fights, I don’t tune into the big big match ups because I think politics plays a big part.
RFC: Did you catch the Antonio Margarito/Shane Mosley fight?
Joe Budden: No but I saw the highlights. I’m not surprised with what Mosely does, I’ve been a fan of his for a long, long time.
RFC: You’ve had a chance to see the world through your touring, do you have a favorite country that stands out?
Joe Budden: I like Europe, I like Europe a lot.
RFC: When are you coming back to Canada?
Joe Budden: I just left Canada, I was in Canada for like almost a month. I just did the tour with Royce the 5′9″, D12, Classifiedand I probably won’t be in Canada anytime soon!
Slaughterhouse/SOB’s footage
RFC: How did the Slaughterhouse coalition come about? Are you guys planning to put out an album?
Joe Budden: Yes. Yes we are. Don’t ask me when! But we definitely are. We did a record together called ‘Slaughterhouse’ and the 4 of us were excited this idea about doing an album collectively, that we wanted to go ahead and do it. We’re fans first and foremost, we’re fans of each other and we’re fans of the music so we thought it would be good that we could bring a good edge in hip-hop.
RFC: How did the Slaughterhouse show go last week at SOB’s?
Joe Budden: It was an amazing, you should go see the footage online. It was great.
RFC: Yeah we were, we were trying to watch the live streaming edition….
Joe Budden: Whoa whoa. Not the live stream, don’t let me speak on that debacle! Amalgam Digital does have the show on their website right now and you can see it there. And aside from a few technical difficulties with the sound it was a great, great show.

RFC: Padded Room is finally coming out on February 24 on Amalgam Digital. If this album takes off, would you be interested in jumping back onto a major label?
Joe Budden: I don’t know, I don’t like to think so far. I’m in a great space, I am enjoying where I am and what I’m doing…so I dunno. Hopefully the album takes off but I don’tknow if that it is going to change my decision making any.
RFC: Alright Joe we appreciate you taking the time to answer these questions, we wish you continued success. Padded Room is in stores Tuesday, February 24, 2009 on Amalgam Digital. Thank you Joe.
